2 possible upgrades, wich would be better.

I am currently running a system that needs a couple of small upgrades for gaming, but have a hard time choosing wich ones.
I have now this setup:
I5 2500K
8 GB RAM
ATI HD 7770

Now I certainly could go for a new high(er)end graphics card like a 290x, but I could also upgrade to a I7 3770 and get a Radeon R9 270x with it. But I am not shure what would yield better results in the end, a I7 3770 and a 270x or a I5 2500K with a 290x.

What would you people advice?

Your existing CPU is still quite potent for games, being on the highest CPU tier. Depending on your intended resolution, a 290x may be overkill. There are some good deals available on HD7950s and HD7970s which are sufficient for single-monitor 1920x1080 gaming. Since your existing rig could run 24/7 on a 380W Antec Earthwatts, make sure your PSU is sufficient for a more powerful card.
