I would like to build a desktop for lab & gaming purpose. Like to play latest games i.e. Crysis 3, Assassins Creed 3, also for lab work like run 7-8 vm's simultaneously with 4-8GB vRAM given to VMs, could be 1-2 GB to few of them out of 8 VMs.

Should I go for Xeon/i7 proc, and RAM 32/64GB + decent mid level graphics card.

Can any one suggest HW config for these kind stuff.

Thanks

Try out flipkart.com for the parts as pcpartpicker cannot give you adequate idea on prices and product availability.

I would say that you're budget is quite restricted for what you want to do. (Your budget goes for just over 2000US$)

And there are certain aspects that you did not mention such as storage? How much do you want?

Also, if you want to allocate 4-8gb of VRAM, you'll need a couple of GPU's running in SLI/Crossfire (depending on brand preference and budget).

All in all, you going to run up the price very quickly with what you are looking to do. If you have an exact list of specifications (other than CPU, RAM, and GPU) we can try and find you a solution.
