Current build:
Intel Q6600 quad core
Evga 8800gt
4gb ram

I have the itch to upgrade. I assume adding a new card to my build would be pointless as the system would bottleneck it?

If so, I have proposed a New build:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1SDsS

I'd like to keep this under $1200 and the parts I have selected are all I need. Thanks in advance!

Please offer your thoughts and suggestions. I will be gaming at 1080p on 58in plasma.

I want the highest settings for all next gen games like Titanfall, crysis, battlefield, half life 3 and other future high performance titles.

Questions:
CPU: I could save a bit of money going with the amd FX8350/respective motherboard but not sure if the cost savings would be worth it? If I went this route I could use the money towards a better GPU or something. Stick with the intel or no?

MB: is there a big difference between the extreme 3 and extreme 4? I would like the option to overclock in the future but nothing right now. Alternatives welcome.

RAM: will I see a difference between 1600 or 1866 ram? I'm not real versed on latency issues and timings. I realize I have a 8 gb and 16 gb set in my build I am trying to decide which to go with? Are there better/cheaper options than what I have chosen for these routes?

SSD: everyone seems to like the Samsung evo but is it worth more
Money if I can get a SSD a tad cheaper with the same storage?

GPU: is this overkill for my resolution? will I see a noticeable difference going with the Asus matrix over a $300 model? Also is the sapphire toxic better than the Asus matrix? Both are $350ish

PSU: is this a good one, if I miss this sale do you have other suggestions? I might want to add a 2nd card in the future.

Case: will I have room for 2 cards? Alternatives welcome for $50-$60 budget

One final question, will I be able to hook up this through hdmi to my surround sound receiver? And pass thru to my tv?

Personally, I would go with AMD, save a bit of money. You'll still get good frame rates and it will play smooth, which I think is most important. Graphics card, which toxic were you thinking of?

Sapphire Radeon TOXIC R9 280X 3GB

Trying to determine if the base models at $300ish would be just as good. I am on a budget but don't mind spending money if there is a good benefit to be seen. I want this build to last several years without needing to upgrade (unless I get a killer deal on a second GPU a few years down the line to run in SLI or Xfire)

I'm fairly sure RAM speed won't affect games that much, here's a video you can look at to see : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgzA2C61z4

A more expensive SSD will most likely be more stable, but I'm not to sure on that area

Seasonic make great PSUs, anything from them will be good. Go for higher wattage if you want a second card, check what the recommended wattage is for your card running in crossfire.

I think any graphics card in your price range (but not anything like Quadros, etc.) will run most games at goo FPS at 1080p

Your case should fit 2 graphics card, but be on the safe side if choosing a different one and stick with either mid tower ATX or larger.

Ok I have updates my stuff. Does anyone else having any comments on this build? Is there a better
Motherboard or ram choice out there? For instance the extreme3 vs extreme4 asrock boards?

Should I go with the sapphire toxic r9 280x or is that not worth the extra money over a $300.00 version of the card?

Is that PSU good/big enough if I would go SLI/Xfire in the future ? Can anyone recommend a different PSU as I will likely miss this sale?
