Hi, I'm having problems with my mother's computer (Intel Celeron 1.0 GHz, Motherboard Asus P5GC-MX/1333). I know it is very old, but with it she can do all that she needs. Days ago, the computer stop to emit any sound. It has a Realtek sound card. When I plug the speakers in, the realtek sound manager shows as if it was connected to the microphone connector. What do you think is the problem? I apologise for my english. Thanks in advance.

Hello... Right click on the Green and Pink connector pictures... and choose " Connector Retasking" and set the Green one to front speaker out... and the Pink one to Mic in... and every thing will be set back to normal... I'm refering to the "Back Panel" connectors... you can set the front panel ones the same way or any way you would like, front panel Green is set to headphone, Pink Mic in, the results/Sound should be the same... best to check them all.

The problem started due to connecting the wrong type into the right connector... visa versa... the software will display a warning before "ReTasking" them... and she might have accepted the change???

The speakers are plugged in the correct jack, the speakers light green jack. It is running Windows XP. I updated the drivers using the latest DriverPack Solution. I live in Cuba and I don't have a personal internet connection, so I couldn't download the drivers from the Asus site. I'll try to download the official drivers later. Do you think it could be a hardware problem?

Hello... Control Panel, Realtek Audio Manager, Speakers Tab, Stereo? Speaker configuation, click the blue Arrow for play back sound test... Is your volume turned up? try another set of speakers? are you using powered speakers? are they pluged in? is the power supply good?

It is configured in stereo, I click the blue arrow but there's no sound coming from the speakers. The volume is turned all the way up. I tried with headphones, no sound. The speakers are plugged in the green speaker connector and are plugged to the electricity. The Realtek Audio Manager shows as if the speakers were connected to the microphone jack, even though the speakers are connected to the correct jack.
