Does anyone know how the onboard sound options on these ROG boards is? How does it compare to a separate PCIe dedicated sound card? I'm planning to get some quality headphones and want to make sure the PC can support their potential. What would be a better option - cheaper mobo w/ soundcard, or just one of these mobos?

I'm no audiophile, but like to use my rig for music in background or with the TV or a movie on, and the onboard sound from the ROG FX audio is great, compared to most regular PCs, I had thought about getting a Xonar soundcard, but I have no need for it with the Hero, migth get it and see what you think before digging into a sound card

Looking at your comment you defiantly haven't had a ROG MoBo and the sound on that will Blow you away its basically like a separate soundcard and when you look trough the Playback devices it will show as seperate card !

I have this board and I am not impressed with the sound at all. I had a dedicated 7.1 card before with a tiamat 7.1 headset and it sounds great.. now with just the onboard audio for this particular mobo..it is no where near as good. Unless I am missing something in the settings.
