Hi. I, as well as many others, am having a problem with running Dead Island on my HP Envy Laptop. My specs are as followed:

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130531-1504)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 740m
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC
BIOS: F.24
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 12064MB RAM
Page File: 6802MB used, 6988MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.02.9200.16384 64bit Unicode

Whenever I try to open up the game, all I get is a black screen that covers 1024x768 of the screen starting at the top left. I can hear the audio and if I pressed a key, I can hear changes occurring. What can I do to fix this? I have tried many solutions, such as compatability mode, deleting the video.scr file, etc.

The thing is, I can't get to the settings. I can run Battlefield 3 just find. Dead Island is the only game I am having trouble with. It just comes up as a black screen rather than the intro or anything.

I have tried that, too. Everything seems to be in order except for the operating system. However, I have read about others who could run Dead Island on Windows 8 just fine.

I've noticed a lot of people with 4th generation intel processors are experiencing this problem. People with windows 8 can still run it. Oh and I also have a 4th gen intel processor and can't run it. I highly doubt they will patch it.
