You aren't going to find many new motherboards for the Q6600, that is going back 5-6 generations. Not finding very many overclocking LGA775 boards myself.

There are two types of water cooling. Closed Loop, and Open (Custom) Loop.

Closed loop are sealed coolers that comes with an integrated pump, hoses, and radiator/reservoir. More or less as easy to install as a heatsink/fan. Usually about 50-70% more costly for the same performance as high-end heatsink/fan. Great for space saving.

Custom loop coolers are when you buy a separate water block, pump, hoses, radiatior(s), coolant, reservoir and assemble it your self. There are various kits available, but you are looking at hundreds to build your first set up.

In either case you need fan/radiator locations in your case. 120mm, 140mm, 240mm (240mm x 120mm rectangle) or more depending on size of the radiator.

thanks man

but asrock g41c-gs MOBO

That motherboard certainly does support overclocking and seems to be available from newegg at least.

5.0Ghz is an unrealistic target. 3.6Ghz to 4Ghz is more common.

The $100+ dollars spent on a closed loop cooler, could be out performed by a $70 rifle/tower cooler. Without knowing your computer case, it is hard to recommend an exact model.

OK so if I got corsair h100i

How much can I go up to?

That varies by individual CPU and the stability of the voltages that are supplied by the motherboard. The board you linked probably doesn't have the best design, given that it was built using standard electrolytic capacitors and exposed chokes.

I have seen Q6600 (G0 steppings) run at 3.6Ghz comfortably with little thermal issues, and very little voltage increase. Beyond that range though you have to provide more voltage to maintain the clock and this increases temperature and reduces stability.

H100i can dissipate a lot of heat. So I think you could get past 4.0Ghz easily enough, but that always depends on the CPU. A lot of money to spend on a what if. Cheap $30 Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 or Xigmatek Gaia would give you %80 the same cooling capacity. $70 or so on a Noctua NH-D14 would get you equal or better cooling then an h100i.

OK thanks for answer I would go for the asrock mono with h100i

But I am noon with over clock
How to do the voltage thing

Thanks
