Hi everyone.
Well, my question is the exact same as the title. Will an i7-4770k be bottlenecked by a GT 630?
I've looked about on the web, but can't find anything...
Thanks in advance.
Very much so. The reason you likely can't find it on the web is because it's a bit of a no-brainer, assuming that you're referring to gaming. For a gaming PC, the typical thing is that you want your GPU to cost more than your CPU, or at least have them at similar prices. Meanwhile, the GT 630 is less than one-fifth the cost of an i7-4770k.
For typical desktop usage, you won't get "bottlenecking" because nothing in a desktop will put a GT 630 through its paces. Desktop usage is mostly CPU/RAM intensive, with very little usage for the graphics card, so in that department it's smooth sailing.
For watching videos, there also won't be any "bottlenecking", as videos playback is dependent upon the CPU for the most part, but incorporates hardware acceleration as well. Hardware acceleration just means that part of the work is offloaded to the GPU, but the i7-4770k is more than capable to do so by itself, so 1080p video watching will be a breeze.
But for something like gaming, 3D rendering, etc, that's where a graphics card will be put to work and you won't be able to see the benefits of your i7-4770k at all. It'll simply be too massive a bottleneck in those departments.
