Hello

I have this mbo and cpu (AMD A85600k + Asrock FM2A75 PRO4-M) and i was wondering what my options are to overcloack this cpu.I have never done this before So i want to make sure
that i dont miss on anything.I just want to overcloack my cpu not the gpu part of it.Now
motherboards bios has some oc options but is it save to use and how?
I read all over the net that this cpu can be solid at 4.2.In bios if i take this option do i have to
change voltage or something?

Also im getting a 7850 2GB 256 card and i was wondering do i have to turn off the gpu
part of A8 5600k in bios somwhere or do i just install the new card and drivers and the
gpu will shut down since its no longer needed?

Thank u in advance for replays!

Yes it should be safe if you do it right. My personal feelings for overclocking are that I never like to touch the voltage controls. On occasion I will give a small boost and see if that helps but I don't like to do it a lot.

If you go look you should be able to push up the turbo multiplier and just take it maybe 200Mhz at a time or something, eventually it won't boot into windows. When this happens drop it 100 until you are able to get in to windows. Then run a CPU stress test tool to make sure its stable. If not, then drop another 100 and try again, or you can give it a small amount of voltage.

Use voltage as you want, but I personally just wouldn't do it a lot. You should be able to get 4.2 pretty easily though.

As for the 7850, I am pretty sure the onboard GPU will automatically deactivate itself if its not in use. So install the card, plug your display into it, and install the drivers.

So i set it to 4.2 100mzh.Dont get what this 100Mhz i have option to go to somewhere around 300+ i think.
CPU-Z says core voltage is 1.552V sometimes its go to 1.560V.This was auto set in bios.
Isnt that too much?Should i lower it?
Cpu is cooled by zalman optima and when surfing its 42C with fan on 30%.

So did i get this right or should i change something?

I think you are fine don't worry about the temps. Don't worry about the voltage either, its probably still at its default value, but because of power saving features your CPU will lower its voltage when it is at idle.

As for the 100Mhz, do not touch this. This is whats known as the front side bus and changing it will change the clock on several parts not just the CPU and makes overclocking much more complicated, so if you are not sure what you are doing you should just leave it alone.

My procesor dosent go into idle.I had to disable that because it was making high pitched noise.

So now i set it to 4.2 with some voltage running at 1.416 (it go up and down in cpu-z,hope that is normal)
Lower then that system restarts. Is this ok or should i pop voltage a bit?

In Cpu-Z Rated FSB is blank. What is this and why its blank?

There are many topics about that on net.The noise was coming out of cpu area.
coils on MBO.it happend when cpu was in idle and then i make some action it started
I could hear it even in my head phones.I found solution online a fix it.

Anyway Cpu is now at 4.2 at 1.448V.Doing the stress test atm.Temp is 48C.
If its prove to be stable gonna keep this settings.
