Yep - another post about Cyberpower.
I'm posting this because my experience is similar to those who have posted before.

I ordered my Gaming Rig off of Newegg because I dont have the know-how to build my own rig yet, and the pricing was similar to buying and building anyway.

Received system in about 9days. Not bad. Shipping was rough with the HDD bays scattered inside the tower. No big deal really, they are fairly durable plastic. System worked fine for about 3 weeks.

PC began to freeze all the time - although the mouse would move freely - not sure why that is. I hard-reset the system and that was it. The computer would not boot past the windows loading screen. Attempted PC Repair (windows 8) and then the screen blacked out. Reset and restarts did nothing to fix the problem.

Called tech-support, short hold, friendly dude (kevin) thought I should reseat the graphics card. No fix. Thus began the return for service steps.

CypberPowerPC emailed me a UPS prepaid shipping sticker and told me to package my computer up and ship it back to them. Luckily I kept the packing materials.

I sent it off yesterday, and judging by the UPS tracking info it will arrive there today. I have been told I should expect the PC back in about 2 weeks.

I never trust the over-the-phone staff to record every issue with my rig so i wrote a letter to the service staff, and put it in the package computer with my computer. The letter outlines everything wrong with the and reminded them to run every diagnostic before returning it to me. I also asked for a free PSU upgrade for my trouble.

I will update this post with the results or the service, but so far (aside from the disappointing performance of the PC) service by Cyberpower hasn't been too bad.

If it was about the same cost to buy it than build it, it sounds like you got a good deal on it. You definitely made a good choice to not take it apart as they might have not taken it back to fix it. I would wait the two weeks and if you don't get it, ask for a refund and build your own.

So It has been a week since I sent out my PC, UPS tracking has been really good - and i have been updated every step of the way. Cyberpowers RMA support team has sent to 2 emails updating the status of the Computer and I have been satisfied with that.

They did send me a 'customer satisfaction survey' which i feel is a little premature since i do not have my PC back yet. Cyberpower has replaced the hard-drive, and I believe that was the legitimate problem. UPS tracking says the computer is on the UPS truck and on the way to my place now.

I have been satisfied with the Cyberpower support thus far assuming that the PC shows up today. They quoted me a 2-week turn around and it has been a week. So far so good Cyberpower!

Rig cost me $1300 - the same as it would if I built it myself off of newegg.ca

i will update after i get my rig back.

Ok So I got my computer back exactly 1 week after i put it it the mail. Thats not a bad turn around considering I live in Vancouver, Canada.

I was fairly happy with how they packaged my computer up again. Was shipped better then the first time. Nothing to complain about there.

I opened up the case and could plainly see that they had been inside, which is good. They replaced my HDD and I am fairly content with the cable management. It is not great, but the case looks clean and airflow is good.

One complaint I have is that the Fan controller on the case only is hooked up to the CPU radiator fan - not the other 2 case fans. i would like to be able to control them too.

Another complaint is they taped some paperwork to my case window, and when i took the tap off it left a sticky residue that is clearly visible. Not cool.

On the whole I would give Cyberpower an 8/10. They did ship me a faulty unit, but they did a good job of making it up to me (especially since I bought through Newegg.ca).

My computer has been working well for 3 days now. I am upgrading my PSU and adding a boot and game SSD within the month. I am nervous that the problem may come back, since my computer did work for a while before the problems started.

I think the Advice on Toms is true: Build if you can - otherwise cyberpower is ok.

I'll update if I have any more problems.

good to know you're still happy with the purchase 3 yrs later. cyberpower is not that bad of a deal if you can't/won't build it yourself. with sales and freebies i have been able to get pc's from their site built for about the same as buying the parts as well. not every day but often enough when i have helped folks build one out on the site. overall they are not a bad option from what i have seen

update: Still using the same Cyberpower build with a few updates over the years - PSU, GPU, CPU Cooler, Fans ect. The Pc still runs great and very reliably. Mobo, cpu and RAM are original.

I replaced the CPU cooler this week and the thermal paste underneath was pretty messy, but no big deal.

I imagine I will be getting a new Pc within the next year or two and I will be scratch building. I have been happy overall with Cyberpower PC though.

I bought a custom spec’d unit from them several years ago. I like the idea that you can pick the specific components that you want to build 100% of what you want. Unit shipped in a few weeks and has worked great but did have a few issues and recommendations for those contemplating a purchase:

  1. Pricing was hard to beat. I don’t think I could have built one similar for the same cost.
  2. Assembly was OK but not great. The flexible tubing for the custom loop had a visible kink in it due to being too long, restricting coolant flow. This should have been caught and rectified before shipping.
  3. I paid for improved packaging during shipment (expanded foam in the chassis to hold all compomemts from being damaged if dropped). This was an extra cost but I cringe to think shipping without this add’l safeguard.
  4. I also purchased the upgraded warranty shipping plan that provides pre-paid shipping in the event warranty work is required. The problem with this option is it doesn’t include adaquate insurance in the event the unit is significantly damaged or stolen during the shipment back to Cyberpower. It took several emails to get them to agree to cover any losses in the event the unit was lost, damaged, or stolen during the return shipment.
  5. In summary, the pricing was good and I would likely consider them again. In the end, I chose to fix the tubing issue myself rather than expose the computer to other potential damages shipping back and forth. Also be aware that in some cases, warranty durations are sometimes different when pirchasing directly or as part of a build. For example, the nvidia card only has a 1 year warranty through the cyberpower purchase but would have been 3 years if purchased from a traditional store or online retailer.
