How do you increase range of usb wifi adapter and external antenna?

Hello,

Is there are ways to boost signal range to access network for a decent range like half mile +? The current setup I have is a Alfa awus036h 1 watt wifi usb adapter with a yagi antenna 25dbi. Is there like wifi amplifier or something? Maybe upgrading to a more powerful usb wifi adapter? If so, which ones should I upgrade to?

Probably a wifi extender, like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833281008

That's a more expensive, higher power one, not sure about a half a mile though...

It extends your current wifi setup. And, as mentioned, there are much less expensive options, but it sounds like you might need something more powerful like the link.

Similar, but by the looks of it, that one you linked to has to physically attach to your existing router/antenna. Where other extenders actually set up a distance from your main router and extend the existing signal even farther.
