Is there any difference between having only one graphics card and having two graphics card with SLI or Crossfire?....lets say that for example I have one graphics card with the exact same capacity as two other cards combined, which would perform better, the single card or the double card configuration?

Anyone would recommend SLI/Crossfire if you have one of the pairs of gpu already. Other than that, you can get a high end card for the same price of 2 and save money spent on better power supply and maybe cooler and have nearly same performance with less heat/noise. Some games doesnt support multi gpu (although i cant consider it a problem as most of current titles do) but maybe you have to wait sometime after games release for the company (nvidia or amd) to release drivers for their sli or to fix issues with them as multi gpu is usually facing some issues.
