I'm planning on getting Battlefield 4 and possibly COD Ghosts if i can afford it or some other games. for pc. I was planning to get and download them on release day from Steam or Origin for example. Then i remembered about Black Friday and Cyber Monday and wondered if Steam and Origin would have new and popular games on sale, like Battlefield 4, Ghosts, etc. So is it likely they would have game sales and would games like mentioned above be included in the sale? I just started playing on PC so im kinda new to Steam, but i know they have sales sometimes, but not sure if they have seasonal sales. So should i just buy them on release date or wait it out for the chance of Steam/Origin sales? Any feedback and help is appreciated. Thanks!

Steam has a summer sale and a Christmas sale. Neither usually includes the latest games.

Origin has sales when they feel like it. They also do not generally include new games.

I was doing a quick bit of research and found Steam had an "Autumn Sale" running the week of Thanksgiving last year, which included some surprisingly new titles like MW3 for 50% off. A lot of people are speculating that there will be another Autumn sale this year around Thanksgiving, so i might wait to see if that happens and what will be on sale if there will be one. Also, there will be a Christmas sale which might include the games i want. I think itll be worth it to wait and wait for an Autumn sale this year. There is also a Halloween sale, but people say only scary games go on sale.

Define "new game" because Origin had a sale a few months ago that included 2013 releases and they were pretty good that I indulged a bit too much. ;)

As for the question about will Steam have a sale that is a tricky question because the obvious answer is yes because Steam has sales everyday/week. However your question obviously leads to will there be any huge sales with epic low prices around that time. The short answer is maybe. :p

They probably will, will those games be games you want or already own? That is the difficult question. I have seen tons of epic deals on Steam over the years but usually after I already owned the game :D so yeah fml...

Origin has a good sale pretty much mid year. (They usually release end of the year and beginning of the year (Battlefield 3,4 end of the year, Simcity, Sims early on) <- my reference to that claim). So it's safe to say for Origin wait mid year, for Steam I would suggest putting the games you want on your wishlist and let the emails indicate when they are on sale or just check the store under specials each week (what I do)

Lol, I check Steam everyday anyway. One of these days I will get to clearing this backlog of games from all the sales. Those Humble Bundles don't help. That's another place to keep an eye on for game sales. They just did a big EA sale not long ago and those are as rare as unicorns.

Well, as far as I know Steam always release some deals during the weekend that Black Friday occurs, some of them are as good as they ones they usually do, some may be even better, only Valve could answer it right ? About Origin's one, for what I have found they have done it on 2011 and 2012 (couldn't find any data before that), what I also found about it was:

The Holidays are upon us, and Origin is rolling out sweet deals on the best games. Here’s what you can expect starting Thursday November 28th at 8am PT.

For just 24 hours, exclusively on Black Friday, Battlefield 4 will get a massive price cut! Here’s the rundown on the price in your region:

• North America: 29.99 USD

• Germany: 35.99 EUR

• Russia: 719.40 RUB

• UK: 26.99 GBP

• Ireland: 35.99 EUR

• France: 35.99 EUR

• Australia: 47.99 AUD

• Brazil: 59.94 BRL

• Sweden: 359.40 SEK

• Norway: 299.40 NOK

• Korea: 27,000.00 KRW

• Netherlands: 35.99 EUR

• Denmark: 299.40 DKK

Want more construction than destruction? No problem. SimCity and The Sims 3 franchise will see cuts up to 50% off. Even the just-launched SimCity Cities of Tomorrow Expansion Pack will be 10% off.

And sports fans, you’re covered. You’ll be able to enjoy a 30% discount on FIFA 14 and FIFA Manager 14, Madden 25, NHL 14, and NCAA 14 and more!

Deep cuts are planned throughout the store. You’ll see Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 and more at 60% off.

All-time favorites are also getting the love. Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Alice: Madness Returns and many more will be 75% off!

This is just a taste of things to come. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to catch these deals and more the moment they go live! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Since this thread popped back up. Steam started a huge sale today. Origin will have a sale starting tomorrow with at least one higher end game for $1.

That's my current wallpaper rstoledo!
