Hello guys! Thank you for coming to my thread and I hope y'all have great day.

I built my PC for awhile now, and I think it's time to upgrade it a little bit. I need recommendations on which parts should I replace and which parts should I keep. Especially, graphics card and CPU. So, below is my current rig and references:

Current Specs:

Approximate Purchase Date: two weeks from now on

Budget Range: $700 gross

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, 3dsMax, Blu-ray movie. office...

Are you buying a monitor: Yes! I'm thinking about getting a 3d monitor so I need suggestion about which one to buy.

Parts to Upgrade: I'm looking to upgrade mostly the GPU and the CPU. But what do you think about my current motherboard? Should I upgrade that as well? As for the GPU, should I run SLI with the same current card?

Do you need to buy OS:
No, I already have a new windows 7 home premium

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
NewEgg, Amazon

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPUs, other doesn't matter which manufacturers

Overclocking:
Yes, but just a little bit since I don't want to do water cooling

SLI or Crossfire:
Maybe.

Your Monitor Resolution:
1080p

Alright, that's about it, I think. Thanks again for reading. I'm looking forward to your advices and recommendations.

Why are you upgrading?
The 2500k and GTX 670 are still very relevant parts today. The 2500k overclocked can compete with the current gen 4670k. The GTX 670 can still play games very well at 1080p.

Exactly

So if you have $700 you have to spend I guess you blow it all on the best graphics card you can afford , after you have doubled up the RAM

but apart from the RAM its probably not worth spending anything

Hi guys, thanks for your reply. As you guys suggesting, the CPU and the GPU is still good for a year to come, and I should upgrade the RAM instead? How much RAM should I upgrade and what brand do you suggest? Thank you.

I would check and see how much RAM 3dsMAX is using in task manager .
If its running above 80% of the installed RAM under load you can check the size of the windows page file [ virtual RAM on the hard disk ] . That will let you know how much is being used and you can buy more RAM based on that information .
I suspect another 2 x4 gig kit of the same RAM will be fine , but its possible that a 2 x8 gig kit will help .

Dont expect any improvements in gaming from the extra RAM though

Thanks for your reply. I was so busy in the last couple days so I didn't check the post until now. Since upgrading the RAM wouldn't cost me so much, and I still have a couple of hundred bucks to spend. I want to upgrade my graphics capabilities. Should I go SLI with another GTX 670 or buy a new AMD R series. I read a couple of reviews on the cards and look like they are pretty solid. In case I choose to do the SLI, does it have to be the same exact card or can be different cards?

Thank again for your input.

Why would you change a perfect GPU. Save money and spend it when your current configuration really gets dated.
I wish I have a configuration as your current one.
