Turning off, but keeping programs?

Is there a way to turn off my PC completely, but have everything I had open last, (or have a list given to pick through,) kind of like web browsers?

  1. The closest thing would be Hibernation. It basically takes a snapshot of everything in your RAM and saves it as a file to the hard drive, and you can then resume quickly. Different than Sleep which keeps things in RAM but your PC will stay in a low-power state.
  2. If you want to turn it off completely then no.

You can use Google Chrome and set it up to remember your tabs when you close out the browser.
