The most important question is if the 4th core IS unlocked, is it still 95w or does it automatically become 125w???
My friend recently got the x3 450 in a combo with the MSI 760GM-P23 AM3+ mobo.
This mobo has the core unlocking feature, but it only supports cpus up to 95w.
If it becomes 125w, could he undervolt it and/or underclock it and still use it with this crappy mobo? I figured 3.0 x4 would be better than 3.2 x3.
Or should he not bother unlocking the 4th core and just try to overclock it up to 3.5 x3 or so?
I figured 3.5 x3 would be at least as good if not a little better than 3.0 x4
He's getting a CM 212 evo.
Obviously if it stays @ 95w we will unlock the 4th core AND overclock.
This is a gaming PC and he has a GTX 660.
