Hello, I have a very odd problem. My BIOS can't find my SSD, this is a new Mushkin's 128GB SSD that I decided to install Win8.1 onto when I got it. And I did install it, I'm typing this from Windows on this SSD, but my BIOS can't find the thing.
Windows' installation went smoothly, I installed it on this SSD and everything went fine, then this morning when I tried to power up my machine I got error from "Please insert proper boot device...", so I plugged my Win8 installation USB and ran "Windows startup diagnostic tool" or whatever it's called. No problems detected, tried to load SSD again, no luck.

Now here is the interesting part, I am able to load into Windows 8 by pluging in the installation USB, powering on the laptop, disconnecting the USB after BIOS splash screeen, but before the system get's to initialise Windows 8 installation process.

Laptop is ASUS X75VB.

I have an Asus motherboard and experienced the same problem a few times. I had to go into bios and do a boot override to boot the OS drive. On restarts it would load like it should. It only happened a few times and I don't remember it happening since I updated to the latest BIOS.

Try the SSD on another system, see if it gets detected by BIOS there, and if it loads normally. Do you have the latest firmware for SSD ?

But I think there is something wrong with the SSD. And some SSD's and HDD's needs to enable in BIOS, I cant help you with the exact steps cause it varies from MB to MB. Did you tried the SSD in AHCI mode for SATA in BIOS ?
