hard drive capacity low

i have a samsung 5 series laptop and i installed bitdefender 2010 (which is actually a spam) and my computer was'nt starting. i did a backup and recovered my pc and i see that my hard drive capacity is 60 GB instead of 1TB

Have a look in Disk Management and see what it says there. There may be some unallocated space on the drive which needs partitioning and formatting:

Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management
