I'm planning to build a gaming pc and then I realised that I won't be able to plug my pc to router via a cable, and I found this thing in my cupboard. Is it good enough for gaming?

If you are not too far away, you have no significant interference, and no one else is using your wireless network it may be adequate for gaming. Otherwise your lag will be too high.

The newest powerline units, although expensive, work far better than earlier models -- I've been using the Zyxel PLA5205kit with excellent results (around 120Mpbs, over three times faster than the next earlier model PLA4205).

I live in a flat, so there should be no problems with the range, but by wireless network do you mean people using a similar device, or using using wireless devices in general, such as laptops and phones which are connected to the router wirelesly?

Anything connected to your wireless that uses significant bandwidth like video streaming will increase your lag and decrease your gaming experience. A bit of Internet surfing should not be a problem. Another gaming PC or console will most likely be problematic.
