Hi all,
I've been looking into either purchasing a Drobo / synology NAS, or, building my own NAS. The thing is, however good either of THE Drobo / synology are now, they will soon be out dated in terms of speed etc. So, I would prefer to build a NAS myself so that as new and improved components come out, I can just swap them new for old. But with a Drobo for example, To upgrade, I would have to buy a whole new unit.

With that said, is there a pc NAS setup that could match the energy efficiency of a drobo / synology?

I'm struggling with what motherboard and PSU would give the best performance but with an idle energy consumption of 20 - 30 watts?

My budget would be £500

Any advice is very welcome!

Thanks,
Paul

Hi gsxr1paul

So other biker looking for NAS? You must have1k gigxer? You must look this site. http://www.bigccracing.com/shop/category.asp?idCategory=66
They have amazing turbo systems for bikes. Like suzuki and others too.
Are u sure your bike do have enough power? Maybe you need turbo?

Cheers for the link. Yeah used to have a k1 gixer 1000. I've ridden a super duke with NOS before but the thought of a turbo winding up mid corner was buttock tightening!

Thanks for the build specs. Any idea of how many watts a build like that would use?

Paul

I have B-King with turbo system. + 450hp in dyno :D
Nice get some wheel spin when coming out corners :)
And when Accelerating at full throttle. Get wheel burning at 160km/h
That is amazing.

No I have no idea how much wattage this takes. Not too much anyway.
Try solar power :D I not so green guy so if it works it is good.
No power comes "free" if you ride with fast bike.. It needs fuel to go fast. Maybe NAS work better with low wattage. But still if you want less wattage then look Qnaps. QNAP TurboStation TS-412 is here about 260 €
So it is cheap ?
