Trouble seating 24 pin connector into the motherboard

Hey all, I'm having a lot of trouble seating the 24 pin connector into the motherboard for some reason. I applied a lot of force to the extent that the motherboard began to flex, but the 24 pin connector was still not securely latched on.

I took the motherboard out of the case to connect it, but the same thing happened. I'm pretty sure that there's nothing obstructing the connectors since they were both new out of the box.

I'm using ASRock B84M-ITX with a Corsair CX750M.

Look at each of the pins on the cable and each of the pin sockets on the motherboard and make sure that they is not an extra bit of molded plastic on one that should not be there. It should fit flush without excessive force.

Try use one finger under the MB and other on the top of the 24pin connector to push down, but do use the bare finger under the MB, use with antistatic wrist strap or touch some metal before you do it.

Everything looks fine to me. I suspect this might be a manufacturer's defect or something...do you think getting an extension cable would be a good idea?

I've tried this already, and the result was more or less the same.

It is possible that an extension would help, at least it could allow you to plug it into the board without excessive flexing that can damage your board.

Is the bottom of the 24 port adapter flush with the motherboard, almost looks as if it is raised off the board a bit, although that could just be an illusion from the picture.

I would also look at each pin and slot to see if the metal portion has any defects, I've seen a few of those over the years that needed a little modding to fit together.
