trying to use my android phone as wifi hotspot for laptop it will connect when no password is set but as soon as wpa2 security is set on phone laptop connects but can't surf!!! I am using the correct password I've set on phone for laptop and I don't want to leave it as open for anyone to use!

Remove the network connection in control panel, then just re-connect. May well be trying to connect using an old password.

its actually because you changed something in the setting!!! this happennd to me too so what I did was I backed up everything on my phone and then I reset the phone and then it worked

this same thing happens to me, but i can surf net when connected to phone in open network. What i do is i put the wifi setting to only allowed devices, now the open wifi allows connections to only allowed devices so problem solved.
