Hey gamers...I am looking for a shooter game that is fairly simple to play and has good machine gunning and rifle marksmanship. The games I play are Sniper Elite, Defense Grid, Portal and Dungeon Defenders with my son on Xbox 360. My eyes and hands dont do to well with run in and shoot games or ones that you have too many buttons to push...like press X&A&B while holding right trigger to do one "special move". At that point I just start pressing buttons and panic! LOL Transformers was one of those games. I like Sniper Elite but I have played in in elite so many times its boring now. Star Wars was another one I could use in a sniper like mode. So my question is...what newer games would be a good choice for me? Battlefield...COD...GOW...Halo?? I dont want strictly sniper but something where you are not forced in to a major blastfest. I know Sniper Ghost Warrior?? is out there but it doesnt look as good as SE even. What do you guys recommend?

with the Greatest of respects as you get older obviously your reflexes slow down and your eyesight gets worse making it harder to play fast pace games, the games you have listed eg call of duty and battlefield and fairly fast paced and require quick reflexes to avoid frustrating deaths over and over.
some games I would suggest that may suit you - arma 3 the dlc for sniper elite 2 - nazi zombie army - maybe try hitman? maybe try rainbow six vegas 2? star wars republic commando, sniper ghost warrior 2 I think it looks pretty cool. the only other one I can think of is tom clancys future soldier and of course provided your pc can run it the division when it comes out - this is the single most exciting game I have ever waited for!!

I hope I could be of some help and please don't take the age part as hate, I am just trying to help.

Recent games that come to mind are Red Orchestra 2, Arma series, the older ghost recon and rainbow six are all nice and methodical. Out of the four you mentioned, battlefield has a role for everyone, and not necessarily that fast paced.

Sniper Ghost Warrior is pretty mediocre to be honest with you but the brothers in arms series is also pretty good for you since you are ordering squads around and the combat is relatively slow paced since you are keeping your head down, suppressing and flanking the enemy.

Another free alternative for marksmanship and machine gunning is America's Army which has been around for around 10 years or so.

The newer Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games have become pure action, so I wouldn't recommend them :D

Age is just a number, it's your attitude that counts :p

LOL...no offense taken my friend....I am well aware of my limitations as time goes on. It never stops me from trying anyway. I got used to frustrating deaths over and over in Sniper Elite on some of the DLC and certain places while in Elite mode. I liked the weapons in that game but the machine guns and handguns were so limited in destruction and ammo. I am ok with some action as long as I dont have to do those combo buttons too much. Shooting, running and climbing I can do ok.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...I will take a look at them. I have been trying to find a website that would compare the new games but all I find is reviews of each.

Which game is the best for the weapons choices regardless of skill?

Edit: I started writing this before the post above, maybe it's my age. :p I could have just waited and said FarCry 3 +1

I'm with roland, age isn't a real factor. Did you game when you were younger? Games today are way more forgiving, IMO. I used to play America's Army in a Bridge clan with a member that was 58. He could hold his own. I also have a friend who used to play Unreal Tournament 3 with a 62 year old and he was apparently very good. I would probably be considered old by many here. Anyway...
I haven't played a ton of new games but I did finish FarCry 3. The story is fairly cheesy and the animals are way too tough but I found it to be easy(maybe a bit too easy). I played it on warrior level(I played it before the "master" setting which is unfortunate). You would be fine on Warrior difficulty.Anyway, there is a nice selection of weapons and they have a good "feel" to them. You have to craft holsters to carry a maximum of 4 weapons at a time. It's fun picking and choosing. The openness of the game world allows for creative assaulting on enemy compounds. It's actually very fun and satisfying. I would say the same about Far Cry, Crysis. Cheesy story, fun gameplay.

That is awesome! I really do think that it's more about staying in practice. I'm a carpenter by trade. I'm better and more accurate now then I have ever been. I would concede that reflexes are bound to diminish, however not when you become very skilled so that something becomes second nature. I don't see myself stopping when it comes to gaming.

I have another odd suggestion for OP. How about Fallout 3 and FO3:New Vegas. You can play it as a straight up shooter or use the VATS system when you want a change of pace. Only thing I don't like about the games is that you are forced down paths.

Games would have to be for Xbox 360...even though as you see my computer could handle it...I cant sit at a computer for long periods of time...I'm also disabled. I am early 50's so I didnt start gaming until my 20's...you know...the first Atari. That guy in the video gets around a little better than I do for sure. I just watched a Youtube video of BF4...man I would love to do that but I would probably be lost...and dead! LOL I still may try it..I like a good punishing.

I appreciate the help guys...I'm Googling them as you suggest them..Thanks.

lol...thats cool...same problem as too many button too. I cant play with a mouse and keyboard at the same time either. I would help if I would have learned how to type...but I'm still a 2 finger typer. It sucks really because Xbox reacts so much slower than I see with people playing on their PC.
