I recently purchased the the Asus PCE-AC68. It's a desktop PCI-E wireless card.

My motherboard is the Asus P9X79 LE.
I first installed the wireless card in a PCI Express 3.0 x 16 slot. The second time, I installed it in a PCI Express 2.0 slot.

Both times after physically inserting the wireless card into its proper slot, I installed the driver and the wireless utility. Both times, I have been unsuccessful in trying to connect to my Verizon Fios router. Each time I would try to connect, I would be prompted to enter in the correct password. (I made sure it was correct numerous times.)
I even tried connected to my wireless hotspot. I removed the password from the hotspot (open network), and tried connecting, but to no avail. And when I was lucky enough to connect, the wireless bar would have the yellow triangle with an exclamation point, indicating that there was a problem with the connection.

I'll also provide some further information, which I'm not sure if it's really relevant. According to my device manager, Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #7 is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31). And for my ethernet controller, the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).

I am currently using the TP-Link TL-WN951N, which connects to the PCI adapter. I have been using this wireless card before and after I installed the Asus PCE-AC68 and I have been able to connect to my Verizon Fios Router perfectly.

I have no idea why my Asus PCE-AC68 is not working. I'm not sure if the Asus PCE-AC68 is not compatible with my motherboard or if I had received a defective device. I can see the wireless networks, just can't connect to it. Each time I try to connect, it prompts me by saying to type in the correct password, which I am. In addition, every time I tried to connect to the FIOS or my unprotected hotspot, it would say connecting, disconnecting, connecting, and then fail.

I will be able to provide any relevant information that is needed. Thanks in advance for all the help.

While it shouldn't matter, I would try it in a PCIe x1 slot. Once installed with the drivers, run the free wifi analyzer from HERE to see if the card is detecting wireless signals on both 2.4 and 5GHz.

It *should* be compatible but is brand new and may have a few bugs for the next driver update to fix.

Same happened to me yesterday. I fixed by uninstalling the Broadcom drivers from the previous WiFi device.

Also I have connected it to PCIe 2.0/1.1 x4 slot (the small one)
