New motherboard won't POST or do anything much at all...

So, this is my first foray into building. All my bits and pieces came in the mail and I assembled them in the case.

It won't boot. It won't POST. It won't make any beeps. However, it will spin up the fans for 5 seconds, shut off, then spin them up again and stay on. Tested with two PSUs with the same result. I took the motherboard out of the case and tried it without anything connected but the PSU and motherboard speaker and it behaves the same. I've tried with both sticks of RAM, with one, with none.

Is the motherboard irredeemably fried (by me or DOA)? Could I have miss-seated the CPU and destroyed the mount? It's an ASRock H87M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150 motherboard with an Intel 4570 CPU mounted (the correct way round, yes).

I have tried to fix the pins and now it will give me beeps if I start it without RAM, and if I put in a stick of RAM it will light the monitor up, but the monitor is only displaying its test patterns, not any actual video from the motherboard.

I'm using the onboard GPU, thru the motherboard's DVI port. I tried plugging in my video card and didn't get anything at all on screen.
