Hi,

I'm planning to change my H100i stock SP120L fans to SP120(w/ colored rings). I'ved read reviews that they have basically the same performance and it is a waste of money to purchase new SP120's. I've also heard they are different.

Please advise,

Solution
Use AFs, SPs are specifically for areas where there is a lot of blockage (like a radiator) and the fan needs to create more pressure to overcome these obstacles. The AF series on the other hand, was made for the more open areas of your case where higher airflow is more beneficial.

Thanks for the very quick reply. Much appreciated. I heard that SP120's are one of the best radiator fans out there. So do you advise, that I should stick with the stock fans? I'm also considering cougar dual-x LED fans since they also have nice reviews

Stick with your stock fans, I think the only difference is the blade colors and frame design. As for the cougars, as much as I like lighting, the cougars have less than half the SP of the Corsair Fans.

Update: Corsair's page says that the H100i fans have a static pressure of 4 mm/H2O, and their SP120 run at 3.1mm/H20. Stick with the stock fans, those are really really good.

Very nice explanation sir. Thank you soo much. You have cleared my doubts. Another question though since I'm picking corsair fans.. Should I use AF120's as intake on the from and exhaust at the back? or still stick is SP120's? I'm using a corsair Vengeance C70 case.
