I always will be gaming with 120hz monitors, probably in 1080p. (Unless we someday see 4k monitors @ 120hz)
That being said, I currently run a GTX590 and an i7-2600k.
I'm thinking I might be planning to upgrade my Video Card in 2014, and I'm seeing a lot of great new tech coming from both the Green and Red team...

Here is my dilemma...
I mainly play the Battlefield Series, and I'm slightly inclined to jump ship to the Red Team...
AMD has announced Mantle, and claim it will own Nvidia in terms of Performance with any Frostbite game supporting that API.

But just a few weeks ago, Nvidia announced G-Sync which is really exciting to hear Monitors with this Tech will be able to sync the Monitors Hertz with the Frame Rate...
Nvidia also announced ShadowPlay, which allows gamers to record game play directly from the GPU if you own a 600/700 Series Card.

So, would it be safe to assume that AMD will also counter Nvidia soon by bringing the same type of Tech: In Game Recording and their own verson of G-sync?

I guess It's too early to talk about this until we see Reviews....
However, it's always nice to get opinions from the Community.

Considering I only like to play with 120hz, and I mostly play Battlefield...
What Tech do you think I would benefit the most from?
I'm not sure how much I would benefit from G-Sync using a 120HZ, maybe G-Sync is aimed towards 4k at 60hz?

The R9 290X looks awesome for Price/Performance I can definitely see myself getting one, if I decide to go Red Team...
But, like you said, we should wait to see them with the aftermarket coolers. 95C is a bit crazy, but I have to say my GTX590 sometimes does hit 88-91C when gaming in Ultra.
Although I think it's because the Gtx590 is a dual chip card, and I don't have the best airflow in my Alienware Aurora...

Cool thanks for the link. My CPU seems to be fine with the liquid cooling It's my GPU that runs too hot... I'd have to figure out what kinda of fan I can put in there to help with airflow.

Frosbite 3 will have support for mantle but it doesn't mean other games using frostbite 3 will automatically use mantle as well. For now mantle is more an option to developer. As long as they port or develop their games for pc they still need to code their game in directx so it will work in any pc. The support for mantle will depends on their resource. If they have the money and time to do it then they might code their game in mantle. Logically it is not in their interest to code their game in mantle as a top priority right now since not even all radeon user have gcn based gpu in their pc.

As for other tech amd might do something similar to what nvidia are doing right now but sometimes they let 3rd party to handle it instead doing it themselves. Prime example are how they let 3d panel makers handle the driver if you want to play in stereoscopic 3d with amd cards. The latest one is they try offering something similar to nvidia GeForce Experience (GFE) and let Raptr doing the job for them.

As for g-sync the tech is really interesting for both gamer and developer. On gamer side there is no more compromise between screen tearing (v-sync off) and input latency (v-sync on). G-sync effectively tackle both problem whic is not possible before. Also for budget gamer they don't need to really worry if low frame rates going to ruin the gaming experience since g-sync able to make low frame rates look much better on the eyes. On the developer side they no longer have to worry about making their games to hit constant 60 fps at all times for smoother experience. Now they can tap the power to get better visual if they want to since even low frame rates such as 40 fps can be smooth with g-sync. So far the only con i can see with g-sync is the tech are limited to nvidia right now. i don't see as the high price for g-sync module as a con since the tech itself is new so premium price is to be expected at this point.

I read at overloard forum that nvidia already approach them if they were interested to integrate g-sync module inside their panel.

Those extra 20-30 Frames of headroom that G-sync can give developers to max out games and still bring a playable experience to gamers is going to be sweet.
