hello,

First of all I am from brasil so, forgive me about my english.

I recently bought a I7 3930k processor on a Asus Rampage IV Extreme with 4502 Bios and 32GB of corsair memory 1600mhz (two pairs of 16GB 2x8GB - CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) and 1x Asus GTX 680 Direct CU II and a Sentey SS-750W PSU. The Deal is... I overclock my processor to 4.8ghz (only the multipliers or else it won't boot) and with a memory that runs quad-channel 800 mhz (xmp) and plus my graphics card that is... respectable. And yet, i'm getting extreme low scores on PC Mark 7 and 3D Mark 11... (5400 for instance) I followed every how-to on you tube and no success.. can anyone teach me how to get better scores overclocking the memory or... what? what am i doing wrong? I worked a long time with PC's and these motherboard does everything for you... kinda makes me dizzy and lost HAHA even thou. i'm sure everything it's OK running 52ºC idle and 67ºC tops at full load (H100i Cooled). No blue Screens and Glitches but I feel it could give more better scores. Anyone? Please? Asking Help from the better. Hail tom's hardware.

Regards From Brasil, Thiago Abrão
P.S. :Sorry about the S.A. ....

Memory overclocking doesn't really affect performance much. Maybe a couple FPS. But not really dramatic. YUou have a nice and high CPU overclock, so CPU and memory isn't the issue, to get higher in those tests, you'll need to try overclocking your GPU a bit. GPU makes the most drastic performance issue of them all in my opinion. And now your 680 will be competing with 780's, R9 290x, and Titans in SLI configurations. So it should get a decently high score, but not among the highest.
You can get the PerformanceTest 64bit client, it tests all your hardware and gives you a summary of each component-and you can pretty much see what holds you back or what you'd like to improve.

Oh man, thanks a bunch... I just tought my scores a little low, because on the top 100 on pc mark, the last one had 10.000 and something points with the same configuration. But now, i am glad. To tell you the truth, i didn't buy this pc for gaming... i know that everything in this computer says:"play me" but i got more memory 32GB and a 6 core processor and more cuda cores that i could buy because i intend to work on Premiere and after effects. Quadro was out of question and my uncle give around 3 thousand ( r$ 5,000,00 reais ) to buy a PC. did i choose wrong? Be Extra honest, please.
thanks

Very nice. nVidia seems to be better because CUDA seem to play better for workstations over Streamprocessors (AMD).
Similar, but yet different.
As far as the build, nice picks. Quadra would have definitely been the best haha but if you may want to check out AMD's new workstation GPU's. I don't recall the name or price, I'll edit this as soon as I find it.
Ah yes, FirePro Check them out, and if you find a better GPU for the money, maybe return the 680. It's not a bad card at all, but worth checking this:
http://www.amd.com/us/products/workstation/graphics/ati-firepro-3d/Pages/ati-firepro-3d.aspx
If this'll be a build for Premier After Effects.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814195107 If willing to shell out a little more. I can be wrong though, so if someone else viewing would like to confirm this, that'll be nice.

Mmmmm... Got it! But tell me one more thing please: My GTX680 equals each quadro? (if that comparison can be made...) OH! and i got a creative recon 3d fatality with the front panel... than i heard about the asus xonar. is it much better? i know... mine is for gaming but i'm pretty happy via SPDIF. no noises at all with my studio sound monitors.

And i stumble on a quadro k200... doesn't appeal to me at all....128 bits gddr3 1 1g... nah...

Check my post, I edited it a little while you posted :)
But a dedicated sound card is up to you, how much does sound matter to you? Another thing, HDMI is better for Audio over SPDIF is I'm not mistaking. I think SPDIF is limited to 5.1 and then the hardware it transfers to digitally transfers it to 7.1 (My Astro A50 Edit:It actually uses TOSLINK).
I could be wrong-but this is what I've read while researching audio. But still, the sound is phenomenal regardless.
And for Performance, it's hard to find comparisons as Professional GPU's are different from gaming GPU's. Some are better for bitcoin mining, and gaming, others for premiere, others for well...other stuff. :)
Benchmarks are pretty much made for gamers to test their performance to a gaming environment so other GPU's don't perform too well.

I'm excited for HDMI 2.0 cables for 32 channel transfers and 4k support :D

Man, again, thak you. i didn't think i would have such complete answers in such short time! oh, by the way, my sound system is a 3-way 2.0 so i think it really doesn't matter. I'm happy. Oh.. and 4K.... that is a dream that does NOT apply now... no cash. and we are just learning about it.... sadly.

Man i gotta go to work in a few hours... thanks a lot again.

Ceirtanly, i'll be back!! kkkkkk

good night!

Haha no problem. Glad I could help! :)
Good night sir-it's time for me to find a job xD
(And 4k well, it definitely has a nice Price Tag behind it-still have yet to go see it in action in person)
As far as learning about it, they have 8k and I think 16k TV's. Just not to the general consumer-because they'll cost a quarter million+ in cost. And I would love NASA's display hahaha! :D
http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2013/09/03/nasas-hyperwall-2-quarter-gigapixel-display/
It's not 23x10 inches. It's 23x10FEET -and I'm a more metric using person myself so: 7x3 meters! HAHA!
And 104 Kilometers of cabling :D
