How can I upgrade an Intel E5800 CPU?

Right now I have a Gateway SX2803, it has 4GB RAM, Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5800 3.2GHz, 1TB HDD

I was wondering how I could upgrade this to make it more lower end gaming range, what GPUs would support this? Could I go with a 7750 or a 7770? And I want to upgrade to maybe a mid tower case.

best GPU for you is probably HD 7750, as your PSU is really weak to support anything over that. but if you manage to get a good 400W PSU then you can get a 7790, which is around 110$, about 20-30$ more than a 7750. but then you might wanna consider upgrading your CPU to a C2Q to reduce CPU bottleneck and OC'ing it if you have the chance.

Well upgrading more than the GPU you'll be pretty much looking at a completely new system. However you are on the right track, getting a 7750 is the way to go.
This sapphire 7750 will work in your current case.

Since for your case you need it to only occupy one expansion slot and be half height. And the above sapphire card fits both bills.

To get a completely new gaming machine you'll be looking at 500-600. Such as this one, just with a 7870 for example instead of the GTX760 to get it down to proper budget.

Is the 7750 good for lower end gaming though? I know the 7770 has some decent performance. I'm not going to be doing very many graphic intense games. I want to keep he RAM, mobo, HDD. If there is a better CPU that will fit in it then that would be great. How much could this run? And what type of case would be bet microATX or Mid-tower?
