buy the R9 280x or 770, or wait for the 800 series?

Hi,
I am building a pc and have been waiting for months, and I am not sure whether to buy the R9 280x or 770, or just wait for maxwell (800 series) (Btw I live in australia) The R9 is cheapest but I really like nvidia. What do you think I should buy :/

The R9 280x is the HD 7970 Ghz edition at the price of the HD 7950.

I would go with AMD if you're on a budget.
Where I live in order to get comparable Nvidia GPU you have to pay about twice as much.

Rendering on AMD is also much faster, if you're into video editing and such.

they are ment to come in Quarter 1 of 2014 :/
so if I spend money it might be a massive waste :/

don't know about amd but didnt intel delay that to q3 2014 due to some manufacturing problems?
