Whats up guys? How long will my graphics card last before having to upgrade? I currently have a EVGA GTX 560 ti fermi 2gb card. I want to be able to play games in 1080p on medium to high graphics for the next few years. I dont need to have anti aliasing 2000x, more interested in seeing good textures. So far my card has been able to handle far cry 3 with some good settings and Bioshock infinite a step before ultra ( or whatever the highest setting is before being at 5fps(not actual fps but it is slow)

My current specs are:
Processor: i5 2500k
Memory : 8gb
Video card : EVGA GTX 560 ti 2gb Fermi
Mother Board: Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3

I was thinking about over clocking my video card to 900-950 mhz but was not sure if the stock fan would be able to cool the card good enough. I have read some things on the forum about slowly increasing the clock speed to see how the card can handle higher speeds without crashing. Anyone know a good setting, without having to go through all the testing? Any thoughts on overclocking my card overall?

Thanks a lot guys!

In 2 years you can still use it but you will need to lower settings. For OC you should go in little steps because the chips have not the same OC potential and you should test the temperature if it gets too high.

Your graphics card was released early 2011. It's now almost 3yrs old, and Nvidia now has the 700 series. So you can say that you're already 2 generations away from the present, and overclocking it will give you an increase in performance, but not much of an increase that you can set aside the thought of upgrading to a newer card. Also put into mind that when you overclock your card, you are also decreasing its lifespan.

To answer your question on how long would your graphics card will last before you need to upgrade, maybe you can use it until mid 2014, but keep in mind that since AMD has released its R9 2xx series which supports Mantle and DX 11.2, you might not be able to smoothly run new games that are optimized for these kind of requirements.

Hope this helps
