Hello Forum, I've noticed this question has been asked numerous times. The responses to other posts concerning this particular build have really helped me flesh out what I feel like I should get.
This will be my first time building a PC of my own, and I have a complete list of the components below. It will primarily be for animation with 3DS Max and Blender and gaming with things like Skyrim, BF3, etc.

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB Video Card
Case: NZXT LEXA S (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD/CD Writer
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Monitor: Asus VE228H 21.5" Monitor

I really need some feedback and advice on this from those far more experienced in building PC's. Is this a decent build? What could I do differently? Any and all responses are highly appreciated.

Solution
$1500 for an animation build with a bit of gaming, definitely achievable.
I assume since this is a first-time build and presumably your work machine that your not comfortable overclocking on it?

Where do you live and what is your budget ? And do you really need a SSD ? It just helps you boot faster and it lasts longer. But I don't think it's worth the money. You could get a better GPU or more RAM if you don't buy a SSD

The South Eastern Tennessee region, my hope is to get most of my parts online. My budget ranges from $1000-$1500. And no, not need per say, I just saw that an SSD was highly recommended in addition to 1 HDD drive.

If you wanted to save some cash, the GPU is an easy place to start. You could lower it quite easily and still achieve good performance at 1080p.
