Hi. I've recently been getting into filming, and I really need to get a camera. At most my budget would be 500ish. I've been looking at the T4i Rebel recently and I can't make up my mind on what camera I should buy. Do I need a DSLR. Size and weight are not a concern. I just want good quality camera that can film in good quality 1080p with low noise. Thanks!

Hi Portizoa, if you can swing it, I recommend the Panasonic G6, on sale with the 14-42 kit lens for $638 at Amazon.

Here is what this camera can do:

This is absolutely the best video-capable camera you can buy in its price class.

It has a viewfinder that continues to work while you're shooting video (the T4i does not), it shoots at frame rates up to 1080/60p for smooth action and slow motion (the T4i maxes out at 1080/30p), it has wi-fi and NFC for wireless file sharing and camera control from your phone or tablet (the T4i does not), it can record continuously for hours - important for weddings, school plays, interviews, speeches and events (the T4i shuts off after 22 minutes of continuous recording and needs to be restarted).

If $638 is too much, you may want to look at the $277 Canon EOS M, with a $60 adapter for standard Canon lenses. Add a relatively inexpensive $149 40mm f2.8 pancake lens or a $160 28-105mm zoom, and you'll have yourself a very capable little still/video camera.

Hope this is helpful!
