I am trying to fix a friend's laptop, and the problem is the wireless doesn't access the internet. I will need help as I only know hardware and am a rookie to troubleshooting or software. That being said, I did ipconfig/all and ping. I don't know what to look for, but I saw that the ping hit the router, but did not hit a webpage. This is on wireless. With ethernet, the connection is fine, in fact I am writing this on the laptop in question. What steps can I take to understanding why the wireless has issues? It worked fine a week ago.

Also this problem is on a network in which others can connect just fine, and also tried on several different networks.

Solution
You can change your DNS for the Google Public DNS. You use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for your DNS servers.
For more informations you could go there : https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Different PC and now I see the pictures! I have to check my add blocker! As the ping statistic tells us and jarotech already mentioned, the DNS server address is wrong! That's why ping can't find the IP address for yahoo.com. The ipconfig says autoconfig=on, so the gateway and dns setting should come from the router with the dynamic IP address and it should all be set to the routers address. Another strange thing is the lease time: Lease Expires should be after Lease Obtained. That's also a setting in the DHCP section of the router.

The router has a DHCP section / menu, where you can enter a DNS- and Gateway address. The router will deliver this with a new IP address. It looks to me, like someone mis-configured this somehow.
