So I have a CM Storm quickfire rapid and I have this extremely weird problem.

Sometime, when I plug in my keyboard or boot with my keyboard plugged in, it would crash, giving me the critical system error message.
This happens only on windows 8. (I've actually never had this problem before with my keyboard, it's only recently started happening).

I can sometimes get it to work if as soon as I plug it in I click my mouse like crazy as well as rollover my keys. But it would still "sleep" and wake up, which is quite odd.

The keyboard works fine in my bios screen and on my macbook.
Also, once I get the keyboard to work, it'll be fine till I restart my computer (I'm actually typing on it right now).

Oh, also the keyboard is standard USB.
I'm on Windows 8.1 atm, but it would still crash on 8.

I had the same problem with Maschine Midi controller- we have tried everything- nothing helped. Some suggested disabling Legacy Devices support for USB in BIOS- that did not help me. Make sure you installed the drivers- may be it not supported by Win. 8. I have Asus motherboard.

I bought a new CM Quickfire Stealth and had a BSOD in Windows 7 Ultimate Dutch
Because I also used USB3 (not for the first time) I thought that was the reason for the crash
Had to install complete new system and it crashed again after a few hours.
Installed again but now with steelseries keyboard, no problem after 1 week
