Hi, I have two gtx 780 acx in sli and was thinking about selling them to get a new r9 290x. I read today that this new amd card is getting really good scores and looks like this mantle thing will take off next month. So, will selling my cards and getting one r9 290x at 1600p be a big loss in fps? I just want a single card solution because I have the gtx 780 acx version in sli and they just get to hot. Also, has amd taken care of there frame pacing issues in the new drivers. Please someone help me decide. I play crisis and bf4 along with all other new first person shooters and a little tomb raider...

If you are already set on having one card, then you should already know what to do. Reference 290x run hot, so you're going to be waiting for an aftermarket cooled card. I'm running SLI 780s on air, and have no issues with heat, but whatever floats your boat.

Keep them. I would never buy the 780s new, but since you already have them they will be more powerful than one 290X. We have yet to see if mantle will catch on and all that as well. The 290X runs really hot (95°C). It is apparently safe, but it is hot. There will be a noticeable drop in FPS as well. For BF4, the 290X might win though, or will look better. Frame pacing is not an issue on one card. Based on the reviews, the SLI actually performs on par with the 780s in SLI in terms of frame latency.

The 780Ti will probably be
1. On par or worse than the 290X
2. Priced significantly higher

Wait you have two 780's in SLI and now you want 290x's?? Wait till 20nm next gen man keep what you got, sure the 290x is faster and will probably end much faster in the coming months as the it matures still no reason to dump your 780's

Keep the 780s both cards in sli gives extremely good performance
