Hello
My current old (about 6 years) pc has the following config.

Cpu- Intel Pentium Dual Core E5700 3Ghz
Gpu-Integrated Intel GMA 3100
Ram-1GB DDR2 Ram
Psu-450w psu
Mobo-Asus P5KPL AM/PS mobo
hdd-500GB hdd

I was wondering if i could add a graphics card to this without changing any other parts to play some more games. My budget is 4000 INR max.
Please also tell that what games I would be able to play with the GPU you suggest.

I can play max payne 2, nfs most wanted, halo: combat evolved and Cricket 07 on my computer right now.

More about : suitable graphics card

First, I would upgrade the ram to 4gb. 1gb is much too little.

Then go ahead and buy a discrete graphics card. Your psu will support a card as good as a GTX660 or 7850.
Any discrete graphics card will be a massive improvement over integrated graphics.

+1 for the Ram.

But GTX 660 and 7850 will bottle neck.

I appreciate your help but i dont think either of gpu fit in my budget. What do you think of Nvidia GT 610 OR ATI RADEON HD 5XXX OR 6XXX SERIES? Anx options from there? Also mention the game titles that can be played.

A GTX660 or 7850 will perform better using a E5700 than a 7750.
The question, is, by how much. If there is NO difference, then that would be a bottleneck. But I would expect some improvement in fps or the ability to use more eye candy with a stronger graphics card.

ANY discrete graphics card will be a big improvement. Buy what you can. A 6570 or GT240 class card would be reasonable.

Yes get 3GB more RAM, the GT 610 is terrible, 6670HD or similar card would be good for your budget, don`t know how much it is.

You have PCI Express x 16 and you will be fine with it. Basicly all games but the new ones at lower details.

Is there any 4GB DDR2 RAM available? I think the mobo doesn't support newer DDR3 RAM.

The person who fixes my computer(I screwed up my HDD but it was under warranty) said that my motherboard won't handle 4GB of RAM. What do you think?
