Help please with headset!

I just got my G230 logitech headset and It doesn't work when i connect the headsets on the mobo which is a M5a97 R2.0... The front doesn't work either. I can connect it to my HDTV LED 32" monitor but it only works for sound, I want to be able to use the mic too! Do I need a sound card? Thanks in advance and please help!

Sorry, but the manual tells you what the speaker and the mic ports are. If you still don't get the sound, right click on the volume icon in taskbar, goto playback dvices and check if the standard playback device is set to hdmi by mistake.

I tried all of them, none work. Unless they both have to be in at the same time, and I might have gotten the jacks wrong, so which one is it?

Its set to my TV, saying the model number and under NVIDIA HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO, there is a realtek one, I'm guessing thats my mobo? (facepalm)

No never mind, still doesn't work, it says not plugged in... Please help... These are the playback devices:
Realtek digital output
Realtek digital output (optical)
E321MV-1
(NVIDIA High definition audio)
3 NVIDIA HDMI OUTPUT
Speakers
and thats it... Please help this is frustrating...

It doesn't let me, and it says not plugged in... I don't have any speakers if thats the problem.

That was not the problem, but what you wrote somehow gave me an idea and it worked. apparenly it was not working because I had to have the program open... (facepalm) anyway thank you!
