I have an Alienware area-51 computer that is about 2 years old and I would like to start to strip it out and upgrade it. It only takes 12gigs of ram and I want to be able to put a new motherboard in that is compatible with maximum ram. I want a titan video card later on and other things. Any suggestions?

Solution
Titan is an over priced card. Instead of a Titan, i'll go for gtx 760 2-way Sli, giving you solid fps and a darn more performance.

And can you enlist your CPU, so I could suggest best compatible components.

All modern graphics cards are compatible with most of the now-a-days motherboards. Compatibilty issues are with the processors with motherboards. Can you at least mention your processor to help me decide components for you. I'm sure it's an i7, but what model?

Okay cool this is all helping me out a lot I will def upgrade my processor as well if needed. My idea for this is basically taking out as much of the outdated stuff in the machine as possible and just building it from the empty case of the alienware because the case is Really nice, will just strip it all out and upgrade everything inside.

The prize for alienware which I chose is around 6500$.
So, how about up to this budget.

CPU: Intel i7 5960
motherboard: X99

Just want to stay constantly with 4K resolution with dropping FPS.
