the sandy i7 at fry's electronics is $145 but is several years old but is hyper threaded (not much for games) and can overclock like hell and 1155 mobo's are all on sale for cheap. The i5 haswell is newer and is more suited to gaming, but has a price tag of $230 all over the board.
witch would be the better value for the next SEVERAL YEARS (4-5), I'm building my first rig before college and wont have the money to upgrade, and by the time I'm out of college I'll just build a new system completely form skylake or broadwell.
