Overscan Problems via HDMI, non with DVI

So I am using an HDMI cable with my Samsung syncMasterxl2370 and over DVI when Overscan is set to 0, the display looks fine and is at 1920 x 1080 taking up the whole screen. When I set overscan to 0 with HDMI the screen becomes too large and I must dial it back to 4% underscaned so that it fits on the screen. So it ends up displaying 1776 x 1000 on a 1920 x 1080 moniter and it looks terrible. Blurry words and all pictures/graphics are no where close to sharp. I have tried a few things, but have yet to figure out how to get HDMI to behave like DVI.

The reason I need to use HDMI is because I messed up my on board sound ship and it no longer works so I need sound from the graphics card.

Card = XFX HD6870
Driver = 13.10 catalyst
8.01.01.1345 2D driver
9.14.10.0991 Direct 3D version
6.14.10.12443 OpenGL

Solution
So once you've set the underscan it goes all blurry even though the image fits on the screen perfectly?
Im confused, it should be the exact opposite...

edit I'm also veryvery tired, I'm off to bed...

It is not really blurry, but it is quite a bit less crisp than if I was getting signal over DVI. I will in all likely hood just buy a sound card and use DVI still. But It is frustrating not knowing why this is occurring. Have a good night thanks for the thoughts!
