High FPS on minecraft but very laggy!

I have an Acer Intel b970 processor (2.3GHz,2MB L3 cache) and when I load Minecraft it is very slow and when I join an online server I have a solid 30 fps but it is very laggy and will lag through blocks I don't know whether its my internet connection speed because that was what I thought it was but I have done tests and it has come out that the connection is very good. Please someone help

That's usually the server. If it is very far away from you, it will probably lag a bit more, and if it is a smaller, less funded server it'll lag a bit. Try playing in single player, and there shouldn't be a problem.

To find out if it is the server, test the ping of the server, by doing this...

Open Command Prompt
Type in "ping", then the server's IP address, and hit enter.
Your computer will then measure the time it takes to say something to the server, and the the server say something back, and is expressed in milliseconds (ms). Command Prompt will tell you 4 different times, and then average them out. It will be displayed as time=15ms. The lower the number, the better. Anything over ~50ms is getting slow, and over ~100ms is when you get lag.
