weird freeze up issues with PC

My PC freezes intermittently after coming out of sleep mode, usually accompanied by the mouse cursor being stuck in one particular icon, regardless of the type of text it hovers over. Also, the monitor often gets no signal if I try to use it after the screen saver has been on (but before the computer goes to sleep). I have already tried reinstalling windows twice. Any other ideas?

My system:
i5-2500k
ASRock z68 pro3-M
nVidia 560
8GB ddr3 ram (patriot)
585watt PSU (came with case)
1TB caviar black HDD

If those 8gb ram are two sticks you could try it with one and change them around, also by slot they're in.

You could set the bios to the optimal default settings.

For the ram you could find out on what timings and Votage it should work and after it's on the default settings you could set it yourself on the right values.
I don't know if there is a xmp setting you can enable in the bios, you could check that out.
