Overclock or new processor?
I'm running an i5-2500k at stock setting and recently upgraded to a GTX-660ti. I'm pretty happy with the gfx at 1080p, with a mixture of normal and high settings and usually FXAA, but I think I may be CPU-bound.
In games such as Arkham Origins, it seems to run fine, but stutters when loading/saving. It seems to run into similar problems in Bioshock Infinite as well, while I ran into a few bugs with Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider that a few people suggested might be due to CPU bottlenecking.
Basically, I was wondering if overclocking an i5-2500k is still worthwhile (I'd need to invest in an aftermarket cooler) or if I should just save up for a new CPU? I was hoping not to upgrade until next year as I'm quite skint right now.
Is it likely that the CPU is causing the issue? And if so, would overclocking it make much difference? I've not OCed before, but it seems like it should be pretty straightforward getting it up to about 4Ghz if I buy a better cooler... not sure what to do
Cheers
