Basically,
i'm on my first build now and I've come to the wiring portion of it.
I guess in upgrading from my last motherboard to this one,
some of the cords don't match up.

Problem: the old HD and optical drive have ports for these cords
to connect to the mobo, and it doesn't seem that mine has
any sort of connection for them.

I'm unsure of what the cords do.
Do I need to go and get new cords?
Is there any some adapter I can get?
I'm kind of in the dark at this point. haha.

Thanks for any and all help!

That was the older drive interface known as IDE. Now all PC's uses SATA instead. It is faster. Problem is older MB's don't support it or have ports for it anymore. The optical drive, buy a new one that is SATA. They're like 15$ for a dvd burner nowadays.

The HD, you can get an adapter, but they are slow. You're best bet is to get a new drive as well.

Okay, cool. So IDE cords are no longer distributed as far as I've read now.
I just could not find out the name of them for the life of me. haha.

I figured I'd probably have to get a new optical drive, but the
HD isn't as important cuz i just got an upgraded one with my other parts.

thanks for the help!
