Vid Editing PC Build

Solution

Having read and appreciated your many answers, and as one of the few I trust in here...I have a question relative to this build.

RAM - I keep hearing it's a waste to use anything faster than ddr3-1600. Yet, that has never seemed to make much sense. Is it that there is no appreciable gain for gaming (akin to an i5 vs i7 for most gaming) and his application is for the rendering demands.

How does one make sure they do receive the benefits of the better RAM? Is it a hardware issue (motherboard?), or is a simple benefit based on the type of "computing" being done?

Finally, when there IS a difference to be had, how appreciable is it?

I'm more than satisfied with a link to direct me to further...

While we're on the topic, if I were to underclock the 2400mhz ram, would I have at least CL9?
