Greetings TH members,
I am in need of your wise troubleshooting talents...

So this is my setup:
Windows 2000 Server // Sataraid5 Array Manager // Sansdigital Toweraid TR5M
RAID 10 setup (I believe, since my drives are showing up as "Mirrored Striped"

The skinny:
Last week my bloody server went down at work.
The cause: Unknown....I may have pulled out one of the drives....I cant remember if I did this before or after it went down. I could have repressed this part of my memory because of the torment I've been going through. Since then I have re-arranged my disk order like a blackjack deck at the casinos. I do see numbers on them (which means I obviously did something right last time sh** hit the fan), but arranging the disk orders sequentially yields nothing positive.
The option to “re-build” or “bring back online” is grey. Rebuilding is also not going on in the background (according to the task manager).

I have a total of (5) disks. (See attached photo)
(2) disks are mirrored striped,
(1) is a dedicated spare, and the remaining
(2) are there to look pretty (the photo shows (1) gray and (1) passthrough, the passthrough is just a new drive I put in there and the original drive is out on the table.

Since the meltdown, I took them all out and connected them to a motherboard with (5) sata ports and used all the various recovery softwares available (raid reconstructor, macrium, freeraidblahblah) with no good results.
At this point I figured out:
- The (2) disks that are greyed out do absolutely nothing.
- The (2) mirrored striped disks are red and have failed, according to the manual. But they’re readable on Raid Reconstructor.
- And the dedicated spare has I/O reading errors whenever trying to do any recovery from it. I’ve changed the PCB on this thing with nothing good to report.

I’ve exhausted myself trying to get this thing revived or recovered…
I think the dedicated spare is what’s causing all of this but I can’t be sure bc the array software says all the disks are healthy….
I really don’t know what to do anymore besides taking it to a local tech, which I am planning on doing if I can’t fix this myself by Monday.
However I still have some fight left in me and would like to see myself prevail.
What do you guys suggest I do????

The raid contains all the user profiles, artwork files (we're a design firm) and...more files.
Thank you guys in advance for you time.

Thanks for your response.
Which (2) disks are you referring to?
The mirror striped or the (2) grayed out one? The grey disks have always been grey from what I remember.
Also do you think its possible to get any of the data back if I take it to a professional?
Thanks.
