Hello. I am tossing up between a Gigabyte GeForce GT 630 and a 640. I have read this article, and it states that ANY Nvidia card should work with a PCI Express 1.1 motherboard. I was previessly looking at a hd 7770, but after reader that, well that card is now a no no. My rig specs are:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 ghz E7500
RAM: 4gb DDR2
MOBO: Msi MS-7525
PSU: Antec 550w
Current Graphics Card: asus nvidia geforce 210

My question is has anybody put that graphics card in a PCI Express 1.1 slot, or will it work in mine. Also, is the difference between the 2 cards worth the $30 difference? Thanks for reading!

Solution
Not sure about the current AMD cards but the HD7xxx cards COULD gave trouble with PCI-E 1.1 'boards, so you've made the right decision-albeit a slightly paranoid one. ;)
Either of the cards listed will run just fine and the GT640 is a fair bit more powerful.
Just be aware that neither of those cards can reasonably be expected to play current AAA titles at 1080 res, even at low settings, very smoothly.
This is where they fall in relation to many, many other cards:
