Mac vs PC

First of all sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language. My PC is getting older and I need to replace it. So I went to a tech store and I saw iMac. It was really beautiful. I loved it's design and simplicity of OS X. I used PCs since I born, I can remember most versions of windows and I thought trying a new thing would be great! I told about Macs to my friends and their reactions were like ''Oh! Don't buy a Mac, they suck!''. Then I realised most people in internet hate Macs. I asked them why they hate Macs and they gave me no reason. I can afford an iMac with 3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 (Haswell), Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz, 256GB Flash Storage or 1 TB fusion drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5, 27 inch IPS display. it's specs are great to me and I don't want cables, Computer Case, speakers on my desk anymore. I think something must be really bad about Macs beacuse there is a really big hate for them but I can't find anything wrong with them. Also I heard that you can dual-boot Windows and OS X with something called ''bootcamp'' to play games and run windows-only software, is it true? Will windows run smooth on Macs? What is your opinion which should I buy a Mac or a PC? I'm really confused.

I'm a PC guy but there is nothing wrong with MACs and a lot right, particularly if you do not build your own machines.

This type of post generally gets a lot of emotional responses, and it will be closed at that time, so all posters please stay objective and factual.

I agree completely with RealBeast that this type of post will generally get a lot of emotional responses. I consider myself a PC guy as well. What I like about the PC is that I was able to custom build it and add the components I wanted. I can't comment on iMacs as I have never used one and I used to wonder why anyone would want a Mac. That all changed when I got a MacBook Pro. It's taken a little while to get used to the OS but it's not difficult to use and navigate, it's just different (for example Finder instead of Windows Explorer). I like it because it's portable and is faster than my older HP and Toshiba laptops. My primary use for the machine is video editing on the go. There is nothing really bad or wrong with Macs.

I'm not pro-Mac, nor pro-PC, simply pro-computer.
My take here is that if you're willing to build a computer, you will get more hardware for your money in a PC. For a strictly gaming platform, I stick to PC. If I weren't a gamer, I might own a Mac since they seem to be a little more versatile from the box than a PC although I do have issues with their pricing

Macs as well as PCs are both good; the Macs tend to be higher priced.

One important aspect to consider is the ease of changing parts, upgrading parts as necessary, the choice among multitude of manufacturers, and parts cost. This is better to accomplish on a PC as compared to a Mac.

In conclusion, if your heart is set on a Mac go for it. They are fine computers!

This is as old as the bible itself...

Too old really, there are many differences but in the end it comes down to you.

First of all why do you care what your friends think?
If you want it buy it, if you want it but you can get a far better pc buy that instead (what I did).

I still want my Macbook Pro but until the tech is at a level where I feel it justifies the x2 price tag I will stick to PC.

My iPad is enough Mac for me atm...

Windows 8 on a Desktop isn't as bad as everyone says, I have very little problems .... ever!

Driver compatibility isn't an issue either.

PC = More for serious gamers, graphics designers, editors, offices (yet Offices are being taken over by Linux)

Mac= hipsters, people who have allot of money, designers and photographers that think Mac is better than PC even though if the hardware is the same in both there is very little difference and in the end it comes down to you pay for awesome styling.

If you don't know allot about PC's (which Chassis to take, which keyboard to use, mouse, headset, what theme to install, which parts will be better than the Mac's for the same price) Then Mac is for you.

However I can guarantee you you can buy a better pc for the same price.

Especially GPU-wise, Mac's are like consoles. People who don't want the best but they want a reliable product that will last them many years.

I hope I cleared it up for you.

I found this elsewhere on the Internet, and it sums up my feelings well.

I personally don't hate the operating system at all. What I hate is the company behind it and their silly business practices.

They don't allow OS X to be installed on non-Apple branded machines. That forces those who want an OS X machine to purchase one of Apple's extremely expensive systems. Plus, because of Apple's pricing, the budget market cannot buy a new computer from Apple. The biggest problem with this is that it kills the market share of their own product, which limits the number of developers willing to develop for their platform. Essentially, they're hurting the availability of software on their operating system in order to keep their hardware prices ridiculously high.

Apple's marketing/ad campaign relies on trashing the competition rather than praising their own products, and most of the 'facts' they spread through their advertisements are actually just 'FUD'.

Plus, they're one of the most arrogant companies around. At one point in time, Apple shipped iPods loaded with Windows viruses, and in their apology they were conceited enough to make the remark 'we're sorry Windows isn't more resistant against these things'. It's essentially like hitting the side of someone's car with a baseball bat and saying "I'm sorry you didn't buy dent-resistant panels!" and expecting everything to be all good.

They've also tried suing a retailer for using a piece of produce (which doesn't look anything like Apple's logo at all) as a logo.

In all honesty, the operating system is an excellent system, however, it's held back by the company behind it.
