Hi everyone,
I have been a computer repair technician for a good few years now and I have never come across this. A customer brought in her PC after it had a malware infection.
When you try to log onto her account, it requests a password. I used various password removal boot CDs and even after completing the removal, when you try to log on, a password is still required.
I ran a fall Malware Bytes' Anti-Malware scan in my test PC, and it showed no infected files.

I have also tried safe mode with the Administrator account, and a password is required.

I have tried an XP repair, and it brings up 1 error half way through, but continues and puts me back to square 1.

I cannot afford to format and reload.

FYI it's an old Dell tower on Windows XP Home Premium.

You guys are normally great, any suggestions?!

Thanks,

Joe.

In safe mode under Administrator account did you use the password : Administrator ? That's worked for me in the past..... If not Ill have to look for the CD I use to remove passwords on accounts works with Win 2000, XP, Vistia, 7... Never tried it on Win 8 yet.

This would only work if I had access to the XP installation. I can only get as far as the logon screen.
